Vodka does not ease back pain. But it does take your mind off it.

You’re not alone,

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), low back pain (LBP) affected 619 million people globally in 2020. This number is expected to increase to 843 million cases by 2050.

The prevalence of LBP varies by age, sex, and country. In general, LBP is more common in women than men, and it increases with age. In the United States, for example, the prevalence of LBP is estimated to be 31% in adults aged 18-64 years, and 50% in adults aged 65 years and older.

The economic burden of LBP is also significant. In the United States, it is estimated that LBP costs the economy $500 billion each year in lost productivity and healthcare costs.

There are many different causes of LBP, including:

  • Mechanical problems, such as muscle strain, slipped disc or joint issue.

  • Degenerative changes in the spine causing compression issues and abnormal movement.

  • Infection

  • Tumor

  • Inflammatory conditions

  • Pain from other medical conditions, such as arthritis or osteoporosis

Most patients show marked improvement and even resolution of back pain issues with chiropractic care. Healing takes time and work but the results are generally very positive.

To get the best results we cannot ignore soft tissue (muscles, tendons and ligaments). Changes in soft tissue can be improved by increasing muscle strength and mobility while also addressing old injuries. Our treatment plans can include Cold Laser, WBV exercises and Crossover Symmetry Hip & Core system to help address these areas. For more persistent issues we work closely with local Physical Therapists so our patients get optimal results.

How can chiropractic care relieve back pain?

Low back injuries can be prevented by restoring proper motion to the spine, strengthening areas which are weak and improving mobility so your body can move properly. Learning to lift with proper form will protect your back by utilizing muscles in the back to stabilize the spine. Using large muscle groups when lifting will help reduce the risk of strain or injury.
